Apex court nixes abortion plea of 10-year-old rape survivor

New Delhi, Jul 28 (UNI) The Supreme Court today turned down the abortion plea of a 10-year-old rape survivor who is 32 weeks pregnant. She has to carry pregnancy to full term, the bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra, ruled. It observed that it was too late now for her to abort. The apex court accepted the medical report and and submissions of Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, that it was too risky for the child to undergo abortion at such an advanced stage.
