Punjab Youth Congress workers set tractor ablaze at India Gate to protest farm bills

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Punjab Youth Congress workers on Monday morning set ablaze a tractor
as a mark of protest against the recent farmer reform bills.
Five people have been detained by the police in this connection so far and a vehicle taken into custody, according to police.
The incident took place around 0715 hrs when around 15 to 20 persons brought a tractor
in a tempo truck, off loaded it near Man Singh road crossing on Rajpath and set it on fire.
They claimed themselves to be Punjab Youth Congress members , the police added.
Appropriate legal action has been taken and affiliation of the five persons detained is being verified, the police said further.
The protest comes on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
In photographs posted on the official Twitter handle of Punjab Youth Congress, the workers were seen gathered around a burning tractor which they had dropped from a truck , while they raised slogans criticizing the government.
An effigy was also hung along a lamp post which had posters of slogans on it.
