4 more accused held in Junaid lynching, people protest against violence

New Delhi/Ballabgarh, Jun 28 (UNI) Police today arrested four more accused in connection with the murder of a Muslim teen on board a Delhi-Mathura train in Ballabgarh, Haryana. The murder of Junaid Khan has triggered national protests in different cities, people are marching as part of a campaign called 'Not In My Name" to call for an end to the recent spate of lynchings. The protests were held in Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru. Reacting to the incident here, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, 'These kind of acts cannot be tolerated and Junaid incident was unfortunate. Such kinds of incidents are unacceptable.' Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has described the murder as "extremely painful and shameful" and said the government will not tolerate such attacks. Government Railway Police (GRP) has earlier arrested one accused, who was sent to three days police custody. A group of people attacked a Muslim youth on board a train on Thursday night, stabbing him to death while injuring two of his brothers over an argument triggered due to the possession of seats, the police said. The brothers were said to be returning to a Faridabad village after Eid shopping from Delhi. The deceased Junaid's brothers Hashim (21) and Sakir (23) severely injured in the incident.
