'J&K's special status revoked for better future of children there': Piyush Goyal

'J&K's special status revoked for better future of children there': Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Railways Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said that with the revocation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and 35A, the Centre has ensured a safe and sound future for the children of newly formed union territories.
"Earlier, the benefits of a Democratic country were held back from Jammu and Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh region. But now, each and every person will be entitled to same rights as rest of the countrymen," Mr Goyal said while addressing an inaugural session of the 20th International Conference of Chief Justice of the World' organised by City Montessori School.
Over 200 Chief Justices and Judges from 70 countries have gathered to share a common platform to ensure ways to safeguard the future of the world's 2.5 billion children and generations yet to be born.
Founder Manager of City Montessori School, Dr Jagdish Gandhi emphasised on the importance of Article 51 of Indian Constitution which strives to promote international peace and security by the prescription of open, just and honourable relations between nations.
"Clause (c) of the above article refers to 'fostering respect for international law' but today there is no legally constituted World Parliament for enacting international laws which would be enforceable on all the countries and peoples of the world," said Dr Jagdish, adding that a law that has no legal sanctity, is not legally enforceable and if it does not carry a penalty for its violation, it cannot be called a law at all. In that sense, there is no international law in the world today.
He further said, "Today, people all over the world, particularly the children are deeply perturbed and fear for their future. Most people are mortally afraid that the enormous nuclear stockpile of nearly 36,000 warheads, assembled by the seven nuclear countries, will one day end all life on our planet either in a deliberate war or by accident. The United Nations has proved utterly incapable of stopping this suicidal arms race."
"The provisions enshrined in Article 51 of the Indian Constitution is a beacon and provide a ray of hope for saving the world from the impending nuclear and environmental catastrophe. Only a legally constituted 'World Parliament' with the power to enact international laws that apply to all countries of the world as well as to all individuals, can provide the much-desired peace and security to the people of the world," said Mr Gandhi.
Mr Piyus Goyal appreciated the educational institute for its efforts in attaining global peace and harmony and said, "It is our responsibility to leave a better planet for our children."
