Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival Opens Submissions for 10th Edition

Guwahati, Aug 4 (UNI) The Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF), has opened its call for
entries for the 10th edition, inviting filmmakers from across India and abroad to submit their
films by September 9.
Set in the vibrant cultural landscape of Guwahati, BVFF has evolved over the past decade into
a space that not only screens powerful films but also fosters dialogue between creators and
audiences, professionals and newcomers.
With over 1,500 entries, 310+ films screened, and an annual footfall exceeding 20,000 film lovers, BVFF has helped carve out a national spotlight for Northeast Indian cinema, connecting local stories to global audiences.
Festival Director Tanushree Hazarika reflected on the festival’s evolution: “Ten years ago, BVFF began as a vision to place Northeast India firmly on the cinematic map of India. Today, it’s a celebration of stories, courage, and community. We invite filmmakers—emerging and established—to be part of this milestone edition, across categories like feature films, documentaries, and shorts.”
In past editions, cinematic stalwarts such as Rajkumar Hirani, Imtiaz Ali, Vishal Bhardwaj, Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar, Prakash Jha, Gauri Shinde, and Rajkummar Rao have graced the festival, sharing insights and engaging with aspiring talents.
The 10th edition will not only showcase films from across India and the world but will also include masterclasses, interactive sessions, cultural performances, networking evenings, and industry interactions designed to nurture the filmmaking ecosystem. The aim is to make BVFF not just a festival, but an experience that educates, entertains, and empowers.
