NDA leads the race in Bihar polls; BJP ahead in MP, UP, Guj by-elections

New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising Janata Dal (United), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), was leading in 129 seats while Mahagathbandhan of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Indian National Congress (INC) and Left parties was ahead in 100 seats where counting of votes for the 241-member Bihar Assembly was underway on Tuesday.
As per the Election Commission, the BJP was leading in 73 seats, JD(U) in 49 and VIP in 7 seats (all under NDA umbrella) while for Mahagathbandhan, RJD was ahead in 60 seats, INC in 21, CPI (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) in 14, CPI in 3 and CPI (M) in two.
At other seats, Lok Jan Shakti Party was leading in four, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen in two, Bahujan Samaj Party in one while Independents in six, as per the latest data.
In percentage, the BJP has received a vote share of 20 per cent, JD(U) 15.46 pc, RJD 23.35 pc, Congress 9.05 pc while LJP 6.24 per cent.
According the Election Commission officials, the counting of votes was going at a slower pace than usual due to unprecedented times of COVID-19. At the time of filling of report, only five rounds of counting was completed with 30 rounds remaining. Also, as the number of polling booths are double, over 1.2 lakh this time, the counting can continue till evening.
In Madhya Pradesh bypolls, where 28 Assembly seats will decide BJP's continuation in power, the saffron party was leading in 18 constituencies, the Congress in nine and the Bahujan Samaj Party in a solitary area as per trends available after three hours of counting of by-election votes on Tuesday.
The BJP needs nine seats to remain in power while Congress all for a come back. The bypolls were necessitated after Congress MLAs in Jyotiradtiya Scindia camp resigned while three sitting legislative died.
In Uttar Pradesh, ruling BJP was leading in five of the seven Assembly seats while Samajwadi Party and Independent ahead in one seat each.
The BSP and INC were not in the seen.
In the by-elections for eight Assembly constituencies, the BJP was leading in seven seats while INC on one.
Eight Congress MLAs resigned before the Rajya Sabha polls this mid year.
