Man survives 10-minute battle with giant crocodile inside protected bathing ghat in Odisha

Kendrapara, Jun 5 (UNI) In a dramatic fight for survival, a 40-year-old man narrowly escaped death after battling a giant estuarine crocodile for more than ten minutes when the reptile attacked him while he was bathing inside a fenced bathing ghat on the Brahmani River in Odisha's Kendrapara district.
Khayamanidhi Das of Balichandrapur village under Rajpur Panchayat had entered the bathing ghat, which was specially fenced by the Forest Department to protect local residents from crocodile attacks. However, in a shocking breach of safety, a giant crocodile reportedly entered the protected enclosure and attacked him on Thursday.
According to eyewitnesses, the reptile suddenly clamped onto Khayamanidhi's leg and attempted to drag him into deeper waters. What followed was a desperate struggle as the victim fought back, punching and kicking the crocodile while crying out for help.

Bhubaneswar, Jul 14 (UNI) The Odisha State Sentence Review Board (OSSRB) has recommended the premature release of Dara Singh, the life convict in the 1999 murder of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor sons in Odisha's Keonjhar district, citing his "good behaviour" in prison.
The recommendation was made during the Board's meeting earlier this month, where it reviewed the cases of eligible life convicts for possible premature release.
