100-year-old Odisha gynaecologist donates Rs 3.4 Cr for research to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneshwar, Dec 5 (UNI) In an exemplary gesture, a centenarian gynaecologist from Odisha has donated Rs 3.4 crore of her self-earned savings to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar's Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology as she turned 100 on Friday.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been honoured with an extraordinary gesture of trust and benevolence as celebrated obstetrician and gynaecologist Prof. K. Laxmi Bai, donated Rs 3.4 crore to the national institute to mark her 100th birthday, said the hospital authorities.
Having received her medical degree in 1945 and served the nation selflessly until retiring from MKCG Medical College, Berhampur in 1986, Prof. Laxmi Bai's contribution reflects her unwavering faith in the capabilities, ethics, and service commitment of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, the hospital management informed.
