Meghalaya issues SOP for upcoming puja celebrations

Shillong, Sep 26 (UNI) Persons above the age of 65, those with co-morbidities, children and pregnant women have been advised to “stay at home” during the upcoming Puja festival in Meghalaya, as per official standard operating procedure (SOP) issued by the State government on Sunday.
However, persons who have received both doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines may attend the puja celebration, the order issued by Chief Secretary, M.S.Rao stated, adding that all priests and other members who will be actively involved in the celebrations are vaccinated in the interest of public safety.
The SOP was prepared by the State government after due consultation with the Central Puja Committee, the apex coordinating body of puja committees and Hindu institutions of the state, to prevent spread of COVID-19.
