Railway extension project in Mizoram to be completed by July next year

Aizawl, July 16 (UNI) Construction of the 51.38-kilometre-long Assam border Bairabi rail station to Sairang near Aizawl is expected to be completed by July next year unless unforeseen circumstances impede the progress of the construction, North East Frontier Railways Consultant R. Hrangtawna said on Tuesday.
Hrangtawna, who accompanied newly-elected Lok Sabha member Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, who conducted an on-the-spot visit to the under-construction railway, said that the construction from Bairabi to Kawnpui railway station in Kolasib district is at the stage of completion. “However, the railroad from Bairabi to Kawnpui station is yet to be used as the road link is yet to be completed,” he said.
He said that a letter has already been submitted to the Commissioner for Railway Safety, who is under the Ministry of Aviation, to conduct an inspection from Bairabi up to Hortoki rail station.
