Selection list of TSR evokes violent reaction among BJP supporters in Tripura

Agartala, Dec 29 (UNI) Angry BJP supporters allegedly vandalised party offices and chased local leaders following the publication of merit list for recruitment of jawans for various posts including riflemen for raising two new Indian Reserve (IR) battalion of Tripura State Rifles (TSR), sources said on Wednesday.
Groups of angry BJP supporters, aghast at not making it to the merit list, vented their ire on local leaders and ransacked party offices in several places of Amarpur in Gomati district and Belonia of South Tripura district on Tuesday. The irritated youths alleged they had been assured jobs in the TSR by the local BJP leaders.
The BJP MLA from Fatikroy of Unokoti district in North Tripura Sudhangshu Das had openly expressed his displeasure over the merit list in a social media post on Tuesday afternoon and stated that it would be difficult to retain the party organisation, as the committed BJP cadres, who had fought tooth and nail to unseat the CPI-M-led Left Front in the 2018 assembly elections have been deprived of government jobs after installation of BJP-IPFT coalition government.
