Tripura: CPI(M) MLAs protest against alleged attacks on party leaders

Agartala, Jan 20 (UNI) All the 16 MLAs of opposition CPI (M) in Tripura today held an hour-long sit-in protest demonstration here against the attacks on party members and leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Jharna Das Baidya, allegedly by the BJP activists.
Leader of the opposition and CPI (M) politburo member Manik Sarkar told media that a delegation of the left front had met in deputation with the Governor R K Baish and apprised him of the situation in the state.
“We have informed the governor in detail of what has been happening in the state over the past three years with particular reference to the long series of attacks on party leaders and workers by the miscreants of BJP in an unprovoked manner, seeking his intervention in the affairs of the state on the basis of his constitutional authority; but we will not relent merely by meeting" Sarkar said.
