N-E States should resolve boundary issues, says Amit Shah

Shillong, Jan 23 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was here Saturday to chair the 69th Plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC), underscored that the North Eastern States should resolve the boundary disputes amongst themselves and urged chief ministers of the various states in the region resolve the boundary disputes amicably holding “State to State” level talks.
“The Home Minister has very clearly stated that when Bangladesh and India can resolve the border issue, why the North East states, which are within the Indian boundary cannot resolve the issue. So he has urged all the States, with special focus on Assam, because most of the States have issues with Assam, he requested that by August 15, 2022, when the Prime Minister gives speech on the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, that North East States should resolve their boundary issues,” Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.
“One of the most important points that was mentioned in the meeting today was regarding certain steps that need to be taken by the North East states themselves to improve the situation apart from the fact that the Government of India is doing its best to support us in terms of finances and policy,” Sangma added
