Meghalaya lauds Modi for extension of PMGKAY

Shillong, July 1 (UNI) The Meghalaya government on Wednesday expressed its gratefulness to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till the end of November.
"During the review meeting held today, we expressed our gratefulness to the centre to continue with the special package for the poor families of the country," Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong told reporters.
He also informed that under the National Food Security Act which includes the AAY and PHH beneficiaries, there are a total of 21, 49, 095 persons who benefit from the scheme.
Under the Non-NFSA scheme, Tynsong said that there are around 7,60,000 people who avail the benefit.
He also said that during the lockdown around 1,81,000 people had registered themselves for the State government scheme of Rs 2,100 for those who lost their livelihood during the lockdown and also construction workers got benefit under the Meghalaya Building and Other Construction Workers Act.

3146 new cases, COVID 19 tally reaches 68148

Patna, Aug 6 (UNI) With detection of record number of 3,146 new coronavirus positive cases, the tally of COVID 19 patients increased to 68,148 in Bihar so far.Health department sources said here today that of the new cases, Patna reported with 603 new cases followed by Katihar with 234, East Champaran 190, Vaishali 163, Samastipur 139, Bhagalpur 128, Muzaffarpur 118, Rohtas 106, Nalanda 102, Saharsa 101, Saran 94, Siwan and Buxar 92 each, Bhojpur 90, West Champaran 89,Purnea 80, Araria and Gaya 77 each, Madhubani 75, Sheikhpura 69, Begusarai 66, Sitamarhi 65, Banka 58, Munger 57, Khagaria 50, Madhepura 44, Lakhisarai and Nawada 43 each, Jamui 42 , Darbhanga 40, Supaul and Arwal 33 each, Jehanabad 29, Aurangabad 28, Gopalganj and Kishanganj 24 each, Sheohar 14 and Kaimur 3.
