Border areas with Assam are “under close watch”, says Meghalaya CM

Shillong, Sep 20 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday told the Assembly that the border areas with Assam are “under close watch” to ensure law and order is not breached.
Replying to a Zero Hour notice tabled by opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP)!Ardent Basaiawmoit, Sangma said, the police are on high alert and are conducting regular patrolling, meeting village elders and the public and urging them to maintain peace.
The Chief Minister said the government, is working tirelessly to maintain peace and harmony in these border areas and also trying to resolve the border disputes.
