Corporators join BJP, CM Biren holds meeting ahead of Assembly session

Imphal, Jul 30 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister N Biren is holding series of meetings with BJP MLAs and allies ahead of the August 10, Assembly session.
The Congress corporators also joined the BJP in a new development.
In a post in a social network platform, N Biren said that, “Gaining trust on the BJP led Government in the State, six Corporators from INC and 1 from NPP of the Imphal Municipal Corporation joined BJP”.
Biren said the new members were welcomed on Wednesday at a function held at his official residence. It was also attended by president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Prof. S Tikendra Singh and other leaders.
Further, the MLAs of the BJP led coalition Government also discussed various matters for the upcoming Assembly session.
Biren said, he also chaired a meeting with the legislators of the BJP-led coalition Government (NPF, NPP, LJP, IND) of the state to review the State’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Congress has moved a no confidence motion against the Biren Singh government. A one day Assembly session will be held on August 10 next. Congress has alleged that the BJP leaders were putting pressure on police, judiciary and other agencies to release drug lords.
