After Nehru, Congress formed Govts due to sympathy wave: Samrat

Patna, Jun 12 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Samrat Chaudhary, said on Wednesday that after Nehru era, Congress mostly formed governments at the Centre due to sympathy wave while Prime Minister Narendra Modi got mandate of the people on the basis of work done for development and welfare of the people.
Talking media persons here, he said that after Nehru era, Congress mostly formed governments due to sympathy wave in the country.
After assassination of Indira Gandhi, her son Rajiv Gandhi became prime minister as he got thumping majority due to sympathy wave of his mother in 1984 Lok Sabha elections, he said.
Similarly, Congress returned to power in 1991 after Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated, he pointed out.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that his party-led NDA got 75 per cent marks in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, bagging 30 of total 40 seats in Bihar.
It could have been better, had NDA got 90 per cent marks, he said making reference to chances of achieving the fixed target of winning at least 36 seats in Bihar.
"We will look into reasons why NDA could not get desired results in just-concluded Lok Sabha elections," Chaudhary said and stated that he would try to get feedbacks from leaders and workers about seats, which the party lost.
To a query on Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, returning to Singapore, he said that she should have stayed in Saran and served the people.
Rohini was like his sister and there was nothing personal against her, he added.
