Kolkata, Aug 2 (UNI) West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday sought information from Mamata Banerjee-led State Government on "political violence, Bengal Global Business Summit, PDS, Amphan Relief Corruption etc".
Taking to his tweeter handle, Mr Dhankhar said, "Right & Duty of Governor to seek
information @MamataOfficial - be Political Violence, Bengal Global Business Summit,
PDS, Amphan Relief Corruption etc Information is not made available."
He said, "Ruling Party stand ‘Governor Politically Motivated."
"Is this Rule of Law or Democracy!" the Governor questioned.
"Why information is not provided ? What is there to hide ? Government must clarify,"
Mr Dhankhar further asked.
" For sake of accountability and transparency, responsibility be fixed on those
@MamataOfficial who defaulted in giving information, " he said.
"Opacity would breed scams and add skeletons to cupboards," the Governor said.
In another tweet, Mr Dhankar said, "Failure @MamataOfficial to give information to
Governor reveals worrisome state of RTI."
"I had earlier cautioned Chief Information Officer at low RTI applicants- for fear of
police knock and repression if they seek information," he said.
"Sharing information is a deterrent to corruption," the Governor said.
On Saturday, Mr Dhankhar said, " Sought details from ACS Finance Re: Bengal
Global Business Summit (BGBS) @MamataOfficial in view of issues of concern
raised."
"Assertion is that even amount spent in BGBS is more than the investment
generated on ground," he said.
"Issues of Fiscal irregularities and patronage also raised," Mr Dhankhar added.
