Jharkhand: Snake bites woman and toddler in Chatra; child dies after doctor denies treatment

Chatra, Jul 8 (UNI) A poisonous snake bit a woman and her infant daughter in Khap village under Sadar block of this district.
The duo were rushed to the Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty--Rajeev Ranjan--refused treatment and shooed away the family members and the infant girl died on the way back.
In the morning, villagers formed a group approached the hospital. Luckily, Dr Arvind Kesri, who was on duty at the time, treated the woman.
He told the family if the woman should be taken to another hospital for advanced treatment if her condition deteriorated.
The irate villagers, who were treated differently by different doctors of the same hospital, have demanded action against Dr Rajeev Ranjan, claiming that if he had treated the woman and the infant, she would have lived and her mother wouldn't have been left struggling for her life.
