NLFT militants serve extortion notice to Mizo villagers in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 01 (UNI) After getting extortion notice from banned militant outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), Chief of Mizo dominated Jampui Vaisam Village Council along Tripura – Mizoram border under Kanchanpur in North Tripura has threatened to take action against the insurgents if police failed to crackdown the gang.
In a complaint to Vangmun police station, president of the village council Josan Thangliana stated that residents of the village and some betel nut traders have received taxation letters from self-proclaimed NLFT cadres two days ago.
The extortion notice asked Mizo villagers to pay an annual tax of Rs 200 per family.

Meghalaya reports fewer Covid cases

Shillong, Jan 18 (UNI) Meghalaya has been reported fewer COVID-19 cases on a daily basis over the past few days with just three cases that includes two recorded in East Khasi Hills district and one in Ri-Bhoi district adding up to at 148 active cases across the State on Monday.
Three more patients - two from East Khasi Hills district and one in East Jaintia Hills district- have recovered from the viral infection as on Monday, taking the overall number of recoveries upto 13,415, informed Director Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War .
