Arunachal governor inspects under-construction Sela Tunnel in Tawang dist

Itanagar, Sep 27 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra has inspected the under-construction Sela Tunnel near Tawang which once completed will give access to all-weather connectivity to the strategically located border town and considerably reduce travel time to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) bordering China.
This strategic tunnel – the foundation stone of which was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 9, 2019 – is being constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) under Project Vartak.
The Governor, who embarked on a three-day tour to Tawang district on Sunday for participating in the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration, said when completed the tunnel will give the Indian Army speedier and hassle-free access to the Chinese occupied Tibetan border as it will substantially cut short the present road distance.
