Fighting Substance Abuse (drugs) during Pandemic in Sikkim

Gangtok, Nov 9 (UNI) The people who do their best to keep society healthy and away from devastating Drug Abuse & Alcohol serve as a blessing in disguise, Sikkim with a number of Non Govt Organisations has been tackling the issue with Govt assistance.
'The State Rehabilitation cum Livelihood is about to be completed in Kitchu Dumra, said Tsewang Gyatso, Secretary Social Justice & Welfare.
This Reporter spoke to the Project Director of Jagriti, here to know about the present state of affairs. 'There are only 12 addicts in the Jagriti Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts.This has happened because concerned families say they find it very difficult to take their progeny to get tested for RT PCR.Test has been made mandatory before admitting the Addicts.Still there are some who go for tests willingly,they are admitted if not positive.Though this is their problem,yet we feel bad for those not able to access the treatment and counselling here,' said Mangalmit Lepcha Project Director,Jagriti..
