Nagaland NVCO appeals Govt. not to charge for COVID test

Kohima, Jul 12 (UNI) The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has appealed to the State Government to reconsider its decision to start charging for COVID-19 testing. According to a press release through a release issued by the NVCO press and media cell, said the Nagaland Government and the community were working very hard to prevent community spread. However, NVCO said that if the situation worsens and community transmission happens then the weaker and poorer sections of the society as they would find it difficult to spend money for tests. The NVCO stated that the current pandemic has “really affected the state exchequer,” however, suggested that instead of making the COVID-19 testing payable, the Government must encourage citizen to undergo test free of cost so as to prevent community spread. Meanwhile, NVCO has acknowledged the State Government for spending crores of rupees to bring back home the citizens stranded outside the state.
