Kohima, Jul 24 (UNI) An emergency meeting of the District Task Force (DTF) of Kohima yesterday decided to impose a week-long total lockdown under Kohima Municipal areas (19 wards) from tomorrow, the July 25 to 31, while in Dimapur, the DTF during its meeting decided to impose partial lockdown from July 26 till August 2, with stringent measures in place.
According to official sources, the lockdowns were being imposed in order to enhance active surveillance by the respective district medical teams and to ensure more comprehensive contact tracing, early detection of suspected cases and isolation measures so as to slow down the chain of transmission process and to further contain the spread of COVID-19 infection.
Dimapur District Task Force led by Deputy Commissioner Anoop Kinchi has imposed partial lockdown in Dimapur from July 26 to August 2. The decision was taken during the District Task Force meeting held today in the conference Hall of DC Dimapur for enhancing active surveillance by CMO team Dimapur and also for ensuring comprehensive contact tracing as well as for slowing down the chain of transmission process, for containing the spread of COVID 19 infection in the district.
However, keeping in mind the well being of the citizens, the members decided that essential commodities (grocery) stores would be opened from 9 am to 2 pm. All non essential commodities shops including bakeries would remain closed during the lockdown period.
Movement of public will be prohibited except those coming out for availing essential commodities. In all essential commodities stores, social distancing has to be strictly maintained, sources said.
