Demands for lockdown voice by organisations

Kohima May 11 (UNI) Observing the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state of Nagaland, especially in Dimapur and Kohima, various organisations are demanding the state government declare statewide lockdown to prevent the further spread of the pandemic.

The Sumi Hoho, the apex traditional body of the Sumi Naga tribe has written to the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio appealing to declare statewide lockdown consecutively to prevent the series of community spread of the dreaded pandemic, COVID-19. In a letter written by Sumi Hoho President Hekhushe Shikhu and General Secretary Nikheto Jimomi, coy of which released to the press, appreciated the government machineries and all the frontline workers for their unceasing effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the State. But, it is observed that the COVID-19 positive cases and casualties are surging day by day and we cannot deny the fact that community spread is endangering the lives of the entire state. The Sumi Hoho has urged the Nagaland Government to immediately impose a complete lockdown of the state for a period of at least ten days in order to break the chain of community spread.
