Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare orders probe into death of a youngmanat District Hospital

Aizawl, Jan 16 (UNI) The Mizoram Health and Family Welfare Department on Thursday ordered an investigation into the death of a young man at District Hospital, Siaha, which has sparked public outrage and condemnation from local organisations.
An office order issued by the Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Vanlalsawma, directed Dr. Joseph L. Chawngthu (Orthopaedics), Civil Hospital, Lunglei, and Ralhmingthanga, Deputy Director (Admin), Directorate of Hospital and Medical Education, to proceed to Siaha immediately. They have been tasked with investigating the incident and submitting a detailed report within five days.
The directive follows the death of Daniel Lalruatfela (24) on January 10, reportedly due to delays and alleged negligence in medical attention at the hospital. The Joint NGOs of New Siaha (MYA, MTP, YMA, YLA) released a detailed statement highlighting their concerns over the incident, which they described as both tragic and preventable.
