Meghalaya government urges citizens to support health workers

Shillong, Jul 25 (UNI) With at least two practicing physicians and a few nurses and some other health workers testing positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya's State capital recently, the State government on Saturday advises the public and solicits cooperation from all community members to be more empathetic towards doctors, nurses and other health workers.
“It has been brought to the notice of the Government that doctors, nurses, and other health workers staying in the containment zones have been obstructed from attending their duties, which has disrupted the day-to-day functions of the hospitals they work in," an advisory issued by Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, P. Sampath Kumar said.
"... apart from COVID-19, hospitals handle many emergency situations that deal with life and death and also cater to many other health care services which need equal attention, and obstructions such as these could lead to loss of precious life," the advisory underscored.
