Meghalaya to clear pending salaries of casual workers in health deptt

Shillong, Jul 18 (UNI) The Meghalaya government has released an amount of Rs. 14 lakh to clear the pending salaries of casual workers of Health and Family Welfare department in Ri Bhoi district, a health official said on Saturday.
The government was forced to clear the pending salaries after the casual workers, under the banner of the Ri Bhoi Progressive Workers Union (RBPHU), had threatened to stage an indefinite strike from August 1 if the State government does not release their eight months pending salaries
"The government has released Rs 14 lakh so far to clear the pending dues of the casual workers,” Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War informed.
