COVID-19 continues to roll unabated as lockdown begins in Shillong

Shillong, Jul 26 (UNI) The COVID-19 infection continues unabated in Meghalaya as 56 more reported on Sunday took active cases up to 562, even as lockdown was re-imposed in the Shillong agglomeration from midnight tonight to facilitate aggressive contact tracing.
Of the 562 active cases in the State, Shillong the district headquarter of East Khasi Hills as well as the state Capital of Meghalaya is the worst-affected by Novel coronavirus accounts alone 462 cases.
Describing the situation in the State capital "not conducive", Health and Family Welfare Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek said that COVID-19 cases would further climb up in the days ahead.

All 15 candidates for two LS seats clear scrutiny

Itanagar, Mar 28 (UNI) Altogether, 168 nominations filed for the upcoming Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections were found to be valid after scrutiny of papers on Thursday, while the process of scrutinising nominations against Itanagar and Daporijo constituencies has been adjourned till Friday, the results of which would be out by 11 a.m., an election official said.
