" Conjunctivitis is the inflammation of the conjunctiva. Conjunctiva is the thin transparent layer covering the white portion of our external eye and a reaction of conjunctiva ” is known as conjunctivitis. “Redness” of the eye seen during the infection is due to the inflammation of the conjunctiva, " he said.
Conjunctivitis is basically of three types viz. bacterial, allergic, and viral. Endemic conjunctivitis is due to a viral infection, the virus is very infectious and spreads rapidly. “Spread” of the virus is witnessed during seasonal changes such as the end of the rainy season.
