Over 12 lakh hit by floods in Assam; CM reviews situation

Guwahati, Jul 12 (UNI) Over 12 lakh population in 24 districts of Assam have been affected by floods with the situation worsening in many areas, even as Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed his council of ministers to take stock of the loss incurred by the state due to floods and help in the relief and rehabilitation of people in affected areas.
The death toll in this current wave of flood in the state rose to 44 with two deaths reported from Nagaon district in the last 24 hours.
Incessant rains has also caused landslide in different parts, with two youths killed in a landslide in Sonapur area of Kamrup (metro) district this morning.
