Naveen sanctions Rs.8715.51 lakh for repair, restoration of property damaged in flood, rain

Bhubaneswar, Sep 7 (UNI) A sum of Rs 8715.51 lakh was sanctioned for the immediate repair and restoration of public property damaged in the recent flood and rain in Odisha.
Official reports estimated that Rs 5277.69 lakh for water resources department, Rs 2019.44 lakh for Works department, Rs 4254.70 lakh for Rural Development, Rs 607.72 lakh for Housing and urban development department and Rs 503.38 lakh for Energy department will be required for restoration and repair.
As many as 14,235 houses, 1236 cow sheds were damaged and more than 33 per cent crop was lost over 1,26,126 hectares of land during the flood and rain that hit Odisha during the second and third week of August last.
SRC office sources said 24 districts were badly affected by the flood and rain.
As per the reports of the district Collectors 28,382 fish ponds, seedlings in 483.145 hectares of land, 1125 boats and nets were also damaged in the flood and rain.
