Assam flood toll mounts to 97

Guwahati, Jul 25 (UNI) Over 26 lakh population in Assam continued to reel under floods as the death toll also increased further.
The overall death toll has increased to 97 with one casualty reported since last evening.
Additionally, 27 people have been killed in landslides in the state so far.
The number of affected districts has increased since yesterday, though the population affected has come down marginally.

Over 26.37 lakh people are still affected, which is down by about one lakh since last evening.
However, the number of affected districts has increased by one to reach 27.
Several major rivers of the state continued to flow over the danger level, including the Brahmaputra at many places.
Over 47,000 displaced people were being sheltered in nearby 300 relief camps.
Vast tracts of Kaziranga National Park, Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park and Tinsukia Forest Division are also submerged in waters.
