Guwahati, Jul 15 (UNI) The flood situation continued to worsen in Assam as the death toll rose to 66 while the number of affected population crossed 35 lakh in the state.
As many as seven deaths were reported from different parts in the last 24 hours, including three from Morigaon district, and two from Barpeta, taking the overall toll to 66, an Assam State Disaster Management Authority bulletin said here this evening.
The total population affected reached 35,73,564 this evening, increasing by nearly three lakhs since yesterday, with Sonitpur, Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, South Salmara, Kamrup, Morigaon and Golaghat being among the worst-hit districts.
