Congress submits memorandum to Bihar Guv, demands dismissal of Nitish govt on Munger incident

Patna, Oct 30 (UNI) A high level delegation of Congress led by General Secretary Randeep Surjewala today submitted a memorandum to Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan demanding immediate dismissal of Nitish Kumar government, alleging its failure in handling the situation in Munger where one youth was killed in police firing and several others were Injured in lathi charge on those participating in immersion of idol of Goddess Durga on October 26.
General Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Randeep Surjewala after handing over the memorandum to Governor Mr Chauhan told media persons that he had been apprised about the situation in Munger.
Two incidents of violence occurred in Munger within 72 hours that had erupted following excess committed against devotees during immersion of idol of Goddess Durga near Azad Chowk in Munger district on October 26, he added.
Mr Surjewala said that a youth Anurag Kumar was killed in police firing and it was also evident from the report of CISF.
Eight others were injured in lathi charge on fateful night of October 26, he added.
Congress leader said that the party had demanded from the Governor for immediate dismissal of Nitish Kumar government for its failures in handling the situation in Munger.
Stringent action should be taken against DM and SP of Munger, who were at the helm of affairs during the incident, after placing them under suspension with immediate effect, he added.
