319 of 1066 candidates in first phase of Bihar polls have criminal background

Patna, Oct 14 (UNI) As many as 319 of the 1066 candidates in the fray for the first phase of the three-phased Bihar assembly elections have criminal records.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh told news persons that 1066 candidates are in the electoral battle after scrutiny and withdrawal of the names, of whom 319 are facing criminal charges.
Mr Singh said maximum number of 10 candidates facing criminal charges are from Gurua Assembly Constituency.
