No winter vacation for schools below 8,000 ft in Sikkim

Gangtok, Oct 10 (UNI) Government schools in Sikkim will not be closing for winters this year though schools are yet to reopen after Corona closure from March onwards.
It has been decided in a meeting held here that no more holidays will be allowed.
In a meeting chaired by GP Upadhayay, additional chief secretary, it was discussed to consider allowing schools situated above the altitude of 8,000 ft avail of vacation for 2 or 3 weeks, hence suggestions have been invited about it. The higher altitudes start experiencing extreme cold and even snowfall during December and January, making it difficult for students to attend schools and many other activities for common people.
