Funds meant for education misused in the past, says Meghalaya CM

Shillong, Sep 13 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday revealed that funds meant for education have been misused in the past in the state.
“Government funds meant for education were often misused until recently but now we have directed them towards improving infrastructure in government schools,” Sangma said.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the yearlong Centennial Jubilee celebrations of Laban Bengali Higher Secondary School, the Chief Minister said that in the past 50 years, the educational system had strayed from its core principle which is the welfare and future of students and stressed that all decisions should prioritise what is best for the students.
