VCs must attend today's virtual conference and desist partisan stance : Dhankhar

Kolkata, Jul 15 (UNI) Keeping student welfare uppermost in mind, the Vice-Chancellors
must attend today's virtual conference and desist partisan stance, averred West Bengal
Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday.
Taking to his twitter handle, Mr Dhankhar said, " Keeping Student Welfare uppermost
in mind VCs must attend VIRTUAL CONFERENCE and desist partisan stance. "
" Taking positive approach for sake of education and students had an over reach ⁦
@MamataOfficial, " he noted.
“Political caging of education would ve disastrous and suicidal, " the Governor stated.
Yesterday, Mr Dhankhar tweeted, " Looking forward to VIRTUAL CONFERENCE
tomorrow with VCs as regards student welfare. "
" The conduct of VCs in not indicating open ended issues of students not appreciated.
Surely not in sync with their office, " he said.
" Primary concern ought to be student welfare and not otherwise, " he added.
" To break stalemate flagged issue @MamataOfficial. Her stance is “Universities and
VCs are governed by their own statute and rules, " the Governor stated.
" VCs must abide by directive of Governor/Chancellor, respond as per Act so as to
avoid unwholesome situations and attend VIRTUAL CONFERENCE, " Mr Dhankhar
noted.
Earlier, Mr Dhankhar said he would take initiative in engaging the State Government
for redressal of students' concerns after virtual conference with VCs on July 15.
Mr Dhankhar said, " Student worries are reflected in inputs to me. After Virtual
Conference with VCs on July 15 I would take initiative in engaging @MamataOfficial
@itspcofficial for redressal of concerns. "
" If required would also engage #UGC and Union HRD Minister, " he stated.
" Am committed to student welfare, " the Governor iterated.
