Gangtok, Aug 28 (UNI) Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba, chairing the meeting of Airport Advisory Committee Pakyong, assured discussing the resumption of flight and related issues with Spice Jet airlines.
The new helicopter service from Bagdogra, West Bengal, to Pakyong East Sikkim will also be discussed.
Subba was accompanied by MLA Bishnu Prasad Khatiwada and other members of AAC. Director Airport Ramtanu Saha presented the issues being faced. He highlighted the requirement of medical help from State Govt. Director reiterated demand for additional land measuring 4.83 acres and 2.59 acres respectively for urgent Airport works from safety point of view also requested for settling the land encroachment issues.
The members of AAC led by MP chairman, visited all the points needing attention and said they will look into the problems. The Airport has not been regularly functioning since June 19.
The 100th Airport of India, built at the cost of Rs 605.59 crores, spread at 206 acres of hilly land was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sept 18, 2018.
