Sonowal reviews progress of development projects in wake of Baghjan oil well blowout

Guwahati, Nov 5 (UNI) As a follow up of the announcements made for socio-economic development of Baghjan area which has been the site of a continuous oil well blast since May, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today held a review meeting to take stock of the pace of implementation of the various rehabilitation projects.
The Chief Minister had visited the Baghjan blow out area along with Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on June 14 and made several announcements for the overall development of the people living in the area.
As upgradation of Baghjan Dighal Tarrang High School to Higher Secondary School was one of his announcements, on being asked about the status of its implementation, Principal Secretary, Education Department, B Kalyan Chakravarthy apprised the Chief Minister that from the coming academic year, the school will function as a higher secondary school.
