Agriculture officer held accepting Rs 1.5 lakh bribe

Bhubaneswar, Aug 9 (UNI) Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested an officer of the Agriculture department from Bargarh while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Vigilance sources here said Pranaya Kumar Mantry, Assistant Agriculture Officer-cum-Fertilizer Inspector, Paikmal, in Bargarh district was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5
lakh from a fertiliser dealer threatening to cancel his fertilizer license otherwise.
Based on the complaint, a trap was laid and the accused Mantry was caught by the Vigilance team.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Mantry at Paikmal, his rented house at Sailashree Vihar, Bhubaneswar, house at native village Koilakan under Tigiria, police station in Cuttack and his office room at Paikmal.
Accused Mantry, was arrested and forwarded to the Court.
