BJP national president J P Nadda condemns killing of party MLA in Bengal; CBI probe demanded

Kolkata/Raiganj, Jul 12 (UNI) BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda today condemned the suspected "heinous killing" of Debendra Nath Ray, BJP MLA from Hemtabad in West Bengal's North Bengal district, saying, " This speaks of the Gunda Raj & failure of law and order in the Mamata Banerjee Government-ruled state. "
Mr Nadda on his Twitter post said, " It is extremely shocking and deplorable. This speaks of
the Gunda Raj & failure of law and order in the Mamta govt. People will not forgive such a govt
in the future. We strongly condemn this."
Party's state president Dilip Ghosh, who is expected to rush to the northern district along with
his leaders, demanded a CBI probe, saying their party MLA was murdered by his known people
as he came out of home around 1 AM after a call from them.
" Body of Shri Debendra Nath Ray, BJP MLA from Hemtabad, a reserved seat, in Uttar
Dinajpur, was found hanging like this in Bindal, near his village home. People are of the clear
opinion that he was first killed & then hung. His crime? He joined the BJP in 2019. Om Shanti,"
BJP state office tweeted.
59-year-old Roy, who won on the CPI(M) ticket in 2016 Assembly election and switched over
to the saffron brigade in 2019, was found dead 1 km away from his home as his hangng body
was found in front of a closed grocery shop early this morning.
BJP national general secretary B L Santhosh while condemning the alleged crime said, " Sri Debendranath Ray , BJP MLA from Hemtabad (Reserved ) was found dead & hanging near
his house. He had joined Party during 2019 elections . People in the neighbourhood tell he was
killed & hanged . One more brutal killing in @MamataOfficial goonda Raj. "
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said, " Political violence and vendetta
@MamataOfficial shows no signs of abating. "
He said, " Death of Debendra Nath Roy, Hemtabad MLA-Uttar Dinajpur District, raises
serious issues including allegations of murder. Need for thorough impartial probe to unravel
