2 killed, seven cops injured as clashes break out during eviction drive between police, locals in Assam’s Darrang

Guwahati, Sep 23 (UNI) At least two people were killed and many others, including police personnel, injured after clashes broke out between police and local people during an eviction drive carried out by the Assam government to free land from the “illegal encroachers” in Assam’s Sipajhar area in Darrang district.
A purported video of the incident has gone viral which shows police firing on civilians after locals protested against the eviction drive against the minority community.
The video showing a protester fell down and was beaten up mercilessly by the police.

Aizawl, April 25 Almost 600 buildings and structures in human habitations have been damaged or destroyed in massive hailstorms and thunderstorms accompanied by cloudbursts or strong winds in the northern parts of Mizoram since Saturday, state Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department officials said on Thursday.
