Over 8 lakh COVID tests in Assam; overall tally crosses 33,000

Guwahati, Jul 28 (UNI) In line with its decision for increased testing to detect COVID 19 positive cases at an early stage, Assam today crossed a milestone of completing 8 lakh tests to detect the virus that has led to a pandemic.
Altogether 8,02,674 tests have been conducted in the state, out of which 1,97,925 had been outsourced to private laboratories while the rest were done in the state government facilities, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed.
The number of virology laboratories to detect COVID 19 has increased from one in February to 17 now, he added.
