Guv C V Ananda Bose gives assent to Bengal SC/ST (Identification) (Amendment) Bill, 2022

Kolkata, Nov 26 (UNI) Newly appointed West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose has given assent to the West Bengal Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Identification) (Amendment) Bill, 2022, saying, “I see this as a measure which addresses ‘the poorest and lowliest and lost’ described by Gurudev Tagore in Gitanjali”, a Raj Bhavan communique said.
The Bill provides for provision of appeal against cancellation, impounding or revocation of caste certificate to be dealt with by the District Magistrate or the Additional District Magistrate in the
districts and by the Commissioner, Presidency Division, in Kolkata district.
