Nagaland CM tells Assembly ‘no shortage of teacher’

Kohima, Nov 26 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has informed the Nagaland Legislative Assembly that there are no shortages of teachers in the state, rather an excess of about 10,000 teachers as indicated by the current teacher-student ratio of 1:10 as against the national average of 1:30, however there is lack of availability of teachers for certain subjects.
Replying to a question of Nagaland Peoples Front MLA Yitachu, Rio said Nagaland has a student-teacher ratio of 10 students to one teacher, whereas the national average is one teacher to 30
students. Therefore, the state ratio is very good, but subject teachers are not available, particularly in Mathematics and Science subjects.
