Puri, Jun 25 (UNI) The Snan mandap and Jagamohan of Shri Jagannath Temple Puri are safe, an eleven member expert team led by engineer NC Pal today said after inspecting the structure.

The team consisting of members from Archaeological Survey of India and state Works department inspected the Garbhgriha, Jagamohan, Natamandop, Snan mandap and Rosagh Snan mandap.

Engineer in Chief for building of the state Works Department B K Tripathy told media persons that there were cracks in the beams of Natamandop but the Snan mandap and Jagamohan are safe.

A Seapage of rainwater was noticed. Modern gadgets like crack reading meters have been installed in Natamandop to ascertain the size and expansion rate of the cracks.

The Expert team will prepare a blueprint to carry out repairs in Garbhgruha, Rosashala and Natamandop. The work would be taken up after approval, Mr Tripathy said.

Before the entry of the expert team, the entire temple complex was sanitised. The ASI has been entrusted for conservation and repairs of the 12th century temple since 1974.

Following complaints of inadequate work, a core committee comprising structural experts of the state and country was constituted to ensure repairs conducted properly.
