Amphan: Global Music Fest to raise funds for Cyclone-affected Santoor Ashram

Kolkata, May 28 (UNI) Disciples of Santoor Maestro Tarun Bhattacharya from across the globe will get together for a three-day virtual concert called 'Global Music Fest,' to raise funds for Santoor Ashram, which was completely devastated by the recent Cyclone Amphan.
The concert, to be held on June 14, 15 and 17, will feature young and upcoming prodigal talent from the US and European countries, as well as from different parts of India.
The grand finale will be a concert by Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya himself.
Santoor Ashram, situated in a remote village of Howrah, is the only of it's kind of music school, which provides residential Gurukul, mainly for the underprivileged musicians from different parts of India. Some of Tarun Bhattacharya's students from other countries keep coming to learn from the maestro, when he is in India.
Talking about the cyclone, Mr Bhattacharya said, 'My heart goes to each and every person affected by the unprecedented storm. The Ashram, which was build in over 20 years, with some very precious trees and plantations, has been severely affected apart from the boundary walls.
'The material loss, aside the trees and plants, were like my children with whom I used to spend a lot of time whenever I visited the Ashram. For 3-4 days a week, I would do my riyaaz in the midst of these greenery.
'I seem to have lost my soul, but I shall, with the help and generosity of all music patrons, rebuild the Ashram from \\\\scratch,' signed off the maestro.
