Cooperative societies involved in urea distribution should be made more strong: Badal

Ranchi, Sep 14 (UNI) Agriculture Minister Badal today called on the need for further strengthening of the cooperative societies which were involved in distribution of Urea.
Chairing a video conferencing with the DCs of Palamu and Hazaribagh divisions, he said every selected cooperative societies would be provided upto Rs 5 lakh as working capital so that the target of having 50 per cent societies involved in urea distribution can be achieved.
The minister expressed his concern over the monopoly of the wholesale and retail sellers of urea who were collecting more prices. He said, through various mediums he had received complaints regarding big retailers of urea who are selling non subsidized products such as calcium and zinc. He has asked the officials to take action against such wholesalers of urea who are selling the same on a higher price. The Agriculture minister said,it should be also ensured that farmers are not forces to buy non subsidised items.
